How to organize your finances in 2022

The year has begun and with it comes a lot of bills to pay. And without proper organization, the expenses can compromise the budget for the following months and jeopardize other plans you may have.

That's why now is the time to find out how to organize your finances and set goals and deadlines for the year ahead. Do you want to know how to do this? We've prepared some tips that can help you a lot in this mission. Read on and start preparing your savings for the rest of the year!

Identify your expenses

This is the first step towards effective financial organization: knowing everything you have to pay at the beginning of the year. It's important to make a list, which can be in a spreadsheet, of all the expenses for that period, such as: IPVA, IPTU, school supplies, tuition fees and any other payments that may coincide with the date, such as car insurance, overhauls and other fees.

Once you have identified these financial commitments, the next step is to put the value of each one on the tip of your pencil and add them up. See if some of them can be paid in installments and, if necessary, opt for that form of payment. But if the cash discount is good and you can afford it, it's best to pay off the debt in one go.

Schedule the assembly of a reserve

During the year, organize yourself to set aside a reserve for these payments. Next year, then, you'll have the total amount to pay for everything without any hassle. Now that you've made a spreadsheet of your expenses for this period, you know how much you'll need for next year. Divide that amount into 12 and find out how much you need to save each month on average to pay everything off as soon as possible.

Use your 13th salary wisely

One advantage of the end of the year is that workers receive their 13th salary, which helps a lot with January expenses. It is usually paid in two installments, in November and December. If you have saved this amount, now is the time to use it to pay off your expenses.

If you're able to pay everything off without using your 13th, save up an emergency fund for last-minute needs.

Want to invest? Start saving money at the beginning of the year

Building assets takes work and organization, but it is possible. If you dream of investing in real estate, for example, and building a new source of income for your security and that of your family, it's best to start preparing at the beginning of the year.

Cut unnecessary expenses, see where you can save and how much you need to put down as a down payment on the property you have your eye on. A good tip is, in addition to saving and putting money away each month, to use the money you receive in bulk to reach your goal more quickly.

You can save your 13th salary, the shares you earn in company profits, if any, or even have extra income with the aim of achieving your dream more quickly, or the use of the FGTS. What matters is having a solid goal and knowing that the effort is temporary in order to achieve it and have more peace of mind in the future.

And speaking of investment, do you know the best way to pay for your property? See here if it's more advantageous to buy in cash or finance!
