How to add plants to your home decor

Decorating a home requires creativity to create spaces with details that reflect the preferences of the residents, creating a comfortable and visually appealing environment. Incorporating plants into the decoration of houses and apartments is an idea that is increasingly being adopted.

Greenery indoors makes the house feel more alive, as well as adding a touch of charm to the decor. Each room, however, can house a different style of plant depending on the incidence of sunlight, heat and other factors. Here are some tips for successfully placing plants in the most varied rooms in your home!

Certain species do better indoors

It's common to think that most plant species need direct sunlight or very bright environments to thrive. However, there are many species that can grow beautifully and healthily indoors.

The boa, for example, needs watering every 2 days on average and is a great choice for hanging from the ceiling or placing on a shelf on the dashboard. And it thrives well indoors, not only withstanding the intense cold.

Succulents and cacti also grow well indoors and are very easy to look after. In small pots, just add a teaspoon of water every 10 days.

Fill spaces with floor plants

Is there space left between a sofa and an armchair? Or in the corner of your living room next to the bar? Opting for a tall, floor-standing plant can add a touch of style to the room.

Some plant options are Mandacaru, Espada-de-São-Jorge, Ficus Lyrata and Yuca. These plants are usually easy to look after, just water them according to the needs of each species and, if any leaves turn yellow or brown, gently remove them with scissors.

Use the walls for creative decoration

If you don't have room on the floor, make the most of the walls and the ceiling. Next to a window, hang a species such as begonia, which needs just a little sun a day to grow beautifully and healthily. When suspended, it usually has drooping branches and the colorful flowers bring the room to life.

You can also hang specific arrangements of indoor plants on the walls or install shelves and niches to support pots and cachepots. Small plants can be used in the bedroom, living room, kitchen and even the bathroom!

Get the balcony species right

For your outdoor area, investing in very colorful species will give a beautiful effect and transform the balcony into a pleasant place for relaxing or even when you're having friends over. Azaleas, verbenas, gerberas and violets are some of the species that can be planted in this part of the house.

If your balcony gets a bit of sun, a vegetable garden with your favorite spices is not only useful, it also makes your balcony look and smell beautiful!

Plants in decoration are very welcome, as well as being a practical alternative to make the environment more beautiful and full of life. Once you've chosen your species, the tip is to research how to look after each one so that they last a long time and grow ever more beautiful!

A beautiful home promotes well-being and helps make the day even more productive. Want to know how to get more out of working from home? Find out here!
