Smart home: what is it and how can you automate yours?

Have you ever heard of a smart home? This concept is relatively new and many people have been looking for information, mainly because of the benefits it brings to anyone's routine.

The smart home is connected, so furniture, electronics and appliances have a certain autonomy to perform functions. Blinds, for example, can be opened the moment your cell phone alarm goes off.

It sounds hypothetical, but it's real. Read on and find out about the equipment that can help make your home smart. Check them out!

Virtual assistants

Virtual assistants are devices that centralize tasks in a smart home. Google Nest and Amazon Echo are devices that have voice assistants, meaning you just call them and give the command.

You can ask the virtual assistant to play a song or playlist, turn the TV on or off, open a YouTube video on the TV, tell you the traffic situation or the weather forecast, as well as control other devices.

It should be noted, however, that this coordinated operation depends on all the equipment being technologically compatible.

Infrared equipment

Infrared devices, on the other hand, identify the presence of people in the home and, when necessary, turn lights on or off. They also work in conjunction with alarm systems.

Many of these devices are very intelligent and identify, for example, when it is pet who is at home or when someone is there.

Smart sockets

How many times have you unplugged equipment in order to save energy? That's the way to go with the smart socket.

This type of equipment is connected to the internet and can be turned off or on remotely. In addition, it issues reports and alerts that show when there are power surges or malfunctions.

Connected lamps

The smart home also has light bulbs that work according to your needs. When they are connected to the internet, they can be activated remotely. Some models even come with the following functions:

  • different levels of intensity;
  • different color temperatures;
  • different colors chosen via the app.

Smart light bulbs also contribute to decorating the room. They create the perfect atmosphere for relaxing with a glass of wine after work or for a romantic evening.

Appliances

Refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers and washing machines already have models for the smart home. Just like the others, they can be activated remotely to making your routine easier.

Some fridges, for example, indicate when a product is about to expire or when the quantity is below the ideal (as long as you determine which). The most modern ones even buy new items online.

Electroportables

Coffee makers, toasters and vacuum cleaners also have connected models that transform your routine. You can program the coffee maker to prepare an espresso as soon as you ask the voice assistant.

The vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, has a robot model that walks around the apartment vacuuming and wiping. Some models even map the rooms so they can be cleaned as often as you like.

Have you seen how the smart home works? You too can have your own. All you have to do is buy products that connect to the internet and allow you to operate autonomously.

The spaces in your condominium can also be smart when they are thought out strategically. In the article 30 you have an example of such a space.
